DEF / SCR / DPF & Engine Derate Diagnostics
An emissions fault can cut a healthy truck to 5 mph on a countdown timer. We come to the truck with dealer-level tools, find the real cause of the DEF, SCR or DPF fault, and clear the derate properly — no dealership wait.
Why Emissions Faults Take Trucks Off the Road
On modern emissions-era trucks, the aftertreatment system — DEF dosing, the SCR catalyst and the DPF — is the number-one source of breakdowns that have nothing to do with the engine's mechanical health. A bad NOx sensor, a crystallized DEF doser, a failed DEF pump or a plugged filter can trigger fault codes that put the engine into a derate: first a power cut, then a speed limit, sometimes all the way down to 5 mph. The truck runs, but it can't work.
The frustrating part is that many of these faults are quick fixes once they're properly diagnosed — and a proper diagnosis is exactly what a roadside code-clear from a cheap reader can't give you. Clearing the code without fixing the cause just restarts the countdown.
What Our Mobile Emissions Diagnostics Cover
- Engine derate diagnostics — identify which fault triggered the derate and how long you have
- DEF system faults — DEF quality and level sensors, pumps, dosers, heaters and wiring
- SCR system faults — NOx sensor failures, SCR efficiency codes, dosing problems
- DPF issues — soot-load evaluation, failed regens, and forced/parked regeneration where the system allows it
- Aftertreatment sensor and wiring repair — the corroded connectors and chafed harnesses behind repeat codes
Fixed at Your Truck, in Bellingham, Ferndale or on I-5
Emissions calls are among the most common jobs we run in our home market around Bellingham and Ferndale, including trucks stopped around I-5 Exit 258. We handle derates anywhere on our Blaine-to-Portland coverage, 24/7. If the fix needs a part, we source it fast and finish on-site — and if a repeat fault points to a deeper issue, we'll tell you straight instead of selling you the same sensor twice. Full engine troubleshooting is covered under our heavy-duty diesel diagnostics service.
